VIEW PROJECT

Parc Coffee and Bistro is built for an emerging new brand of coffee shop. Situated along the busy road of Jalan Kesehatan Bintaro in South Jakarta, Parc is proposed as a spatial intervention for a new concept of gathering through coffee.

The design concept for Parc aims to blend indoors and outdoors by creating a giant roster facade that functions as a breathable wall. The stacked roster forms a rigid architecture language. The composition of roster facade emphasizes a more natural and humble materiality to its context, aligning with the brand's ethos of personality and community.

The building mass is composed by five parts: the iconic facade, the entrance, the main area, the smoking area, and the outdoor area. The entrance door is purposely placed at the edge of perimeter wall, leading the guests through layers of spatial experiences.

Covered by a very gentle teakwood texture, the entrance composes a sense of desolation from the outdoor environment. Passing through such contrast experience, the main area is shifting into a double-height seating area with the iconic dome at the centre of the building. The sunlight entering through the dome highlights the domination of wood galore in contrast with the subtle textured paint and fluted glass texture. The finishing details on wood panel at every corner of the area also add a touch of intricacy to the modest palette.

Not only eye-pleasing, the galore of different finishes can also be touched upon all the meticulously-crafted furniture collections. The encounter of edged and rounded furniture enhances more elegance to the whole main area.

Going further into the building, the sequence of spatial experiences basically goes back to the front of the building and arrives at the smoking area. Surrounded by glasses, the space dramatically becomes lighter and chic. The add-on greeneries maintain certain boundaries and connection to the outdoors simultaneously.

Moving to the back of the building, a monochromatic narrow hallway presents for service matters. The design urges efficient movements within the area. The final area is upstairs where the outdoor area becomes an open venue of various activities for guests.

In the morning, an orchestra of lights and shadow dances out the grey-paint wall, livening the flat space up. The whole space radiates warmth and tenderness, providing a perfect spot for gathering and doing morning activities. Parc Coffee and Bistro offers a rich, vibrant space with pleasant vibes to enjoy coffee and social interactions.
