Amanaia Bali Reminisces Traditional Riverside Settlements to Elevate Indonesian Culinary Experience
The diversity of Indonesian cuisines has brought forth its world-famous culinary heritage. In hospitality scene, creating the ultimate Indonesian culinary experience goes beyond presenting food. The ambience of space influences the overall dining experience, transforming an eating out session into a meaningful moment.

In Bali, the renowned Indonesian restaurant chain Talaga Sampireun has been rebranded as Amanaia and given new life with an innovative concept that diverges from its previous design. The conventional setup includes individual saung (Sundanese traditional huts) spreading around a lake and separate dining halls. This initial design is then reimagined and crafted into a cohesive narrative inspired by Indonesian villages from a bygone era.
Historically, Indonesian old traditional villages are known to settle near a river, staying close to water as the source of life. The similar concept is adapted to the design of Amanaia Bali.

The river-like axis is central to the design, featuring a continuous, curved spine surrounded by a lake. Spacious dining areas rest on its bends with open-air saung nestled along the path of the river, precisely reminiscing the traditional riverside settlements. This novel design approach gives direct access from the main dining areas to the water's edge, allowing guests to feed fish and bask in the tranquil waterscape.

Upon arrival, guests are greeted by a soaring roof that gradually descends, guiding them toward the dining area while fostering an intimate atmosphere. Strategic skylights punctuate the high roof, inviting dramatic natural light and enhancing visual appeals.

Walls are intentionally omitted to embrace refreshing openness and maximize natural ventilation. The boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces become blurry, creating a unique, unified environment that feels whole and uninterrupted.

The immersive dining experience is further enhanced by a design that engages all senses. Songbirds serenade guests as fragrant cuisines tantalize the palate. Local materials such as teak, brass, and red brick contrast with modern steel structures. The artisan-crafted rattan ceiling elements add warmth to the space while simultaneously honoring Bali's rich craft heritage.

Amanaia Bali transcends culinary expectations by blending nature, tradition, and contemporary design. The family-friendly restaurant invites guests to immerse themselves in a uniquely Indonesian experience, fostering connection and community gathering within its thoughtfully crafted spaces.
