Adelaide Aquatic Centre (Kauwingka)

The new Adelaide Aquatic Centre (Kauwingka) represents one of South Australia’s most significant community recreation investments, delivering a world-class aquatic, health and wellness facility designed to serve generations of South Australians. Funded and delivered by the South Australian Government and operated by YMCA Aquatic, the state-of-the-art redevelopment replaces the original facility within Pardipardinyilla / Denise Norton Park in Adelaide’s northern Park Lands.

Designed by Warren and Mahoney in collaboration with JPE Design Studio and constructed by Sarah Constructions, the project caters to competitive swimming, recreation, rehabilitation, fitness and community wellbeing.

DuraCube supplied and installed custom partitioning and joinery solutions throughout the primary changerooms and amenity spaces, engineered to withstand the demanding conditions of a high-traffic aquatic environment, including constant moisture exposure, rigorous cleaning regimes and intensive daily use.

The Floor Mount – Ceiling Fixed (FCF) Partitioning System was selected for its structural integrity and sleek contemporary finish. The system was paired with DuraSafe 13mm Compact Laminate in 5333 Southern Pine, which provided exceptional impact and moisture resistance while introducing a warm timber aesthetic that complements the centre’s architectural vision.

The completed installation delivers a cohesive combination of durability, accessibility and contemporary design, providing long-term, low-maintenance performance across the centre’s demanding changeroom and amenity spaces.
