genarchitects was found in Shanghai in 2013. Whether in urban or natural environment, genarchitects insists focusing on the genuineness of designing and constructing, and hopes to find a calm and sincere answer towards the complicated and uncertain reality by discreetly dealing with site and functional requirements.  Under the leadership of three principals, FAN Beilei, KONG Rui and XUE Zhe, genarchitects engages in comprehensive architectural design practice. Its' diverse body of work includes educational, cultural and commercial buildings, extends from furniture to urban scale, and its representative works include Youyi Bay Community, Mi Casa Su Casa Club Hotel, Juanzong Apartment (2023), Dingshu Vocational School of Pottery (2021), and Yitingting Cottage (2019). Those works have won awards widely, including AIA China Design Excellence Awards, The Jury Special Project Award of Building with Nature · Architecture China Award, "Best of Best" of German Iconic Awards, Architizer A+Award, WAF World Architecture Festival Award, Italian THE PLAN Award, WA Chinese Architecture Award, DFA Design for Asia Awards. genarchitects' work and study has been widely published in journals, including THE PLAN, Architectural Journal, World Architecture, T+A, Wallpaper, as well as in books released by Thames & Hudson Press, Birkhäuser, Images, China Architecture & Building Press and other important publishers. Its completed works,“Youyi Bay Community”and“Dingshu Vocational School of Pottery”were featured as cover projects in the April 2024 and May 2022 issues of Architectural Journal, respectively. genarchitects has been invited to various exhibitions, such as the Venice Biennale, the Sino-Europe Invitational Architectural Exhibition, "Towards a Critical Pragmatism: Contemporary Architecture in China" exhibition at Harvard GSD. As guest lecturers, the principles of genarchitects are now invited to participate in the design teaching work of the CAUP Experimental class at Tongji University. They also have been invited as guest speakers and critics by academies and institutions including Harvard University, University of Hong Kong, University of Queensland, Tongji University, Nanjing University, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
